My time at Midas was fast but efficient. The communication from the workers to the front desk then to me was clear and understandable. Helping me understand what needed fixed and what is working well.
They communicated well by phone and followed up with good information. They helped me with warning lights that had come on while changing the tire.
I made an appointment to have my rear brakes done since the Hyundai dealership said that the car needed them done. However, on inspection, the mechanic working on my vehicle said that the service recommended by the Hyundai dealership did not need to be done. I was taken into the garage and shown why the service was not needed. I wasn't charged for the visit although I would gladly have paid for the mechanic's time to remove the wheels to inspect the rotor and brake pads. They put everything back together for me and I was on my way in no time. I really appreciated this courtesy.
Bought new tires and aligned at Midas. After 5k miles (~6 months) there was significant wear on the indeed of the rear tires. Alignment check says all OK. These brand new tires will be worn out in another 5 K. I was hoping better resolution of this issue.

They said car was fixed , drove off lot and came right back because it was still making same noise . Then they replaced another part and the noise was gone . But original part was $695. They did second smaller part free but it makes me wonder if first one wasn’t needed .
Great service and convenience of check-in and scheduling
The manager was very friendly, and kept me informed on the progress. They were very quick to get my oil changed, and discussed any concerns about what might need to be fixed in the future without being pushy. I will definitely be returning for oil changes, and whatever else my car will need in the future!
First, my repair was estimated at 100 dollars less than what it actually was, but I understand that estimates can change based on what they find. Second, I was told my repair would take about 2 hours, but it ended up being closer to 3 hours.

I should have been told what all was done, but I first should have been told what they planned to do before they did it. I told them that my car barely moved after trying to back it out of the parking spot when I was leaving. There was a loud grinding noise at the front driver's wheel. They said it couldn't have been anything they did, and he refused to even look at it without charging me a diagnosis. I was not yelling or angry. I only asked if he could look at it because something was definitely wrong. They said my rear brake pads had 3mm left of life, so since I didn't let them replace those, that my problem must be with those rear brakes and its my fault that the vehicles barely moves when I push the gas. The real issue is that I have one rim that doesn't fit on the front, so if I would have known they were going to do a rotation, I would have told them to not. I wasn't informed upon completion that they had done a rotation, either. They told me that they only took the wheels off to inspect the brakes. I took my car across the street to a mechanic who would listen and they put they rotated the wheel to the back where it fits.
They replaced a piece of pipe with a hole in it. Instead of insisting l buy a hole new exhaust system.
All employees were kind and beyond helpful. They all seemed like they enjoyed their job. I felt super confident and comfortable with leaving my car there for them to inspect and they even put on a new tire for me for free.

It is common knowledge that when rotating tires it is front left to back right, front right to back left. They did front to rear and rear to front no changing of sides. This was after 2nd trip for not doing it in the first place and saying they did.
They listened to my analysis on what might be going wrong and didn't act like they thought I didn't know what I was talking about.There was an error in one of the repair quotes and they called me to tell me after I had already committed to the wrong part/fix. It was ~$300 cheaper after the correction.They gave me info on parts and SKUs regarding work they can't do due to proprietary tech they didn't have access to.Above and beyond.

I called and made an appointment, the check in was extremely easy. After I dropped off my car, they called me back within a few hours and told me everything I needed to know as well as how much it would all cost to fix.
Price was not the same as advertised online. Receptionist was talking poorly about customers the whole time I was waiting for my car.

First of all, I don't rate anything as "highly satisfied" unless there is an above and beyond expected experience. Garage bays were a little messy with garbage on the floor and it was the beginning of the day - but service was fine and I got the service I needed completed. They wanted me to flush my brake fluid as an additional cost, but didn't point out the tire that is corded. Seems a little odd since they were working with that tire and it could be a critical issue were the brake fluid being dirty is not. Just because I'm female doesn't mean I don't know cars. I didn't and don't have any issues with Midas, just answering the question as to why I didn't rank "Highly Satisfied"

Not break extra parts during a repair. Not keep a car for three days when stated it would be done in a day then say it will be done by noon and the customer gets there and it’s not done until 2 because the mechanic is taking breaks and moving slow. Over all the experience was fine and the guy there was nice. I just wish you guys would adjust your prices. 100$ for an oil change is ridiculous. I realize it's a convenience so I don't have to get under my car but I can buy 5 qts of oil and an oil filter for under 40$. It's also just pulling a plug under the car and letting gravity do it's thing. I guess I'm just asking you to think about people and not blanetly ripping them off.

I had some problems with this vehicle as it sat for a few years before it was given to my son. The technicians and manager were very helpful and friendly and were able to figure out what was causing the mysterious headlight problem that another shop had diagnosed as "gremlins." They solved the engine problems we thought might be unsolvable and were fair and quick with the service. Very pleased overall.
The team helped me with my original concern and also with another concern that was found along the way. They kept me updated on the progress of my vehicle.
Despite their business, their communication was amazingly friendly. I was impressed their acknowledge for my car and find out a problem. I highly recommend to everybody !!

Drop-off appointment for inspection at 11:30am. Never received an update. Finally at 3:30pm I called the shop and they could not give me an answer as to the progress of my inspection/estimate. "They would leave a note for the manager", who wasn't available at the time I called. Another hour went by so at that point I got a ride from a co-worker to the shop where I seem them pulling my vehicle into the garage at 4:45pm. I walked into the lobby asked for my vehicle to be returned to me immediately and left without explanation to the delay in what I thought would be a simple estimate of work. Will not be returning. This shop has a serious issue with scheduling and time management.

I give the Ames, IA Midas the highest rating. Their store manager, Alec, and service tech, Anthony, went above and beyond to get my car ready for a long distance fishing trip. Besides LOF, tires rotation they caught a possible safety issue with my rear stabilizer links that may have caused a problem since I will be pulling a trailer. They are professional, skilled, and courteous...they treated me like their own family! I highly recommend them!

The price of the 5W-30 full synthetic oil for my 2017 Chevy Equinox was calculated to be $13.22 per quart. I needed 5 quarts… costing me $66.11 just in oil. The price for this oil in retail is $26.44 for 5 quarts (Platinum full synthetic SAE 5W-30 Pennzoil that meets DEXOS1). This means that Midas is nearly 40% more expensive (not including service fees). I will not be back.
The guy handling the front desk was rude. He came off angry and condescending. His explanation of the service costs was not helpful and would not provide me with pricing information until after my vehicle completed its servicing. I hope he was just having a bad day.

Even though I am a female, I do understand my car, I adore my car. I received a lot of sarcasm and belittling from the staff member who put my order through. I am very reasonable and calm, so I did just play it off at the time, but every other comment from the employee was to make fun of me, embarrass me, or make me feel stupid. I do not know if that was an attempt to flirt, but it was not professional. I will say I was pleased with the person who serviced my car; he was quiet but respectful and told me what to keep an I on for my car. the other guy made me want to leave as soon as I could. I was disappointed, I am from out of town, and I trust the Midas back home.

I am definitely not recommending Midas to anyone, and will be sharing with anyone who needs work done on their vehicle.
I was charged $32 for a free brake inspection. I know it was time to have all the brakes worked on and I could feel the rotors needed to at least be turned in the front. I drove the vehicle in just fine however after being told I just needed the rear brake service, I declined because I knew the front brakes also needed service. Upon leaving I found the rear brakes were locked up and after the experience there I had the vehicle towed to a dealership. At the dealership I was charged an additional $200 more than what I was quoted for just the rear brakes, for all four brakes, all four rotors, rear suspension work, a four-wheel alignment and towing to the dealership. I felt your quote was way too high for just two wheels to have brake work done and it was really strange that I drove it in just fine and immediately after they looked at it the rear wheels were locked up.
Traveling and had run over nails in the road. Contacted this Midas because I have good experience with my local Midas. Niles was able to get me in and his tech was able to fix my tire and I was back on the road within an hour. If I lived in the area would use this Midas for my auto needs. They did great work and were very friendly. This was at 5:00 pm so it made a great impression on me. Thanks for the great service.
Be honest about pricing and if someone asks about a cheaper tire don’t give them the most expensive one and say the higher price is due to labor. Also if you are promising a service make sure you have the materials. I understand things happen but also saying sorry after you miss up would be a nice thing to do. On top of that don’t tell me to come in then make me wait 2 hours to get in.

The next day after service, after driving 2 1/2 hours away, my low oil light came on. After calling Midas Ames, had to have the car towed to the nearest Midas to check. The cap was not put back in after service and my car had no oil. There was oil all over my car and the engine. This really should not happen. I hope there was no permanent damage done to my car. Staff did what they could to help, but again, this really should not happen.

I would like to talk to someone about my experience. 7 out of 20 lugnuts were destroyed. I was told it was from Iowa weather and swelling. The tires have been off before by other places and never has this happened. The oil dipstick was not placed in all the way so oil was spill all over the top of my engine causing a terrible odor and me having to replace the oil lost

I was initially given a discount for brakes on my first estimate but they forgot to add labor. When they gave the new estimate it apparently didn’t include the discount. I had assumed the discount was already added but after I paid and left, I looked through the receipt and saw the discount was missing. So I was slightly disappointed, but the rest of the service was good.
The communication with the manager was excellent. He explained what they did to solve the problem and we are very happy with the oil change we received.Our family has used this Midas store for several years and with many various vehicles. We have always been very satisfied, even with the many changes in this locations' managers.

I've been going to this Midas location for the past 5 years or so when it was owned/managed by Ron. Ron did a fantastic job, was friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. He communicated what was wrong accurately and gave options for prices to fix and if something could be fixed in the future. A few years ago Ron sold the business/retired. Whoever is running this location now has, in my opinion degraded the level of service. The prices and what exactly they were recommending to be fixed was not well communicated and they assumed on the phone that I would fix whatever they suggested and pay whatever price. I had to specifically ask what was being fixed and how much each item was going to cost. On top of that they were unable to find the original problem I brought the vehicle in for (shifting issue on manual transmission). Unfortunately I will be finding a new mechanic now. Wishing you all the best.

"Improperly installed fuel pump causing the fuel tank to leak. Caused several faults to the fuel system due to poor diagnostic and improper installation. Fuel gauge now doesn?t work damaged by fuel pump installation. They put in two fuel pumps that both failed and caused the control modular to fail. Took to an auto inspector and another mechanic and had to pay to have it fixed correctly. They said it was embarrassing the work done by Midas. Very disappointed and disappointed in the little money we got back considering the additional Damge to the car by Midas. Also the fact that my child was driving this car and gas was leaking out. Never will we use or recommend Midas. I have a report, photos and video of the damage as proof."

I didn't have an appointment and was away from home when a check engine light came on and they were able to get me in and fix my truck on no notice and get me back on the road.
The cost for the repairs were significantly more than explained-They had a good reason but were not able to reaach us.
I was visiting family out of state and needed an oil change. I was told it would be $79 plus tax. I was able to use a coupon from the web site to save $20 so I thought I would be pay 59 plus tax. I ended up paying $81.12 after tax as they adding on labor and disposal fees. I have been satisfied with Midas in the past but feel it is misleading when you quote a price that turns out not to be what you owe. I will think twice next time when I need an oil change as far as who to use.
